So happy to say our guest bedroom is done! Well, pretty much done...95% done. Good enough for me! I'll continue to add little things to it, but I still feel like I can say she is finally complete. It took a few months to finish because I only used items I either made or found from thrift stores, garage sales, auctions, etc. The best part? This "remodeling" came in under $75! I didn't plan on making the room shades of greens and pinks, that's just how it all came together on its own. My style is not only rustic chic, but simple. I prefer just a few beautiful items that speak for themselves. Less is MORE!
I got the bench at the end of the bed at a garage sale for just $5...I liked how it looked, beat up and old, so I didn't do anything to it. Just added a chic pink pillow and blanket! The beautiful quilt was made by my Gramma D as a wedding gift : )
I got the shutters from a garage sale for $20. I painted them and originally placed them behind our desk, but I seem to constantly be moving things around! I think I'll leave her here for awhile though ; )
This is the little entryway into the bedroom. The sign was a gift for our wedding, made by my very talented Aunt Karen. I picked up the rustic stand from a secondhand store for $7 and threw some cottage chic magazines on top to complete the coziness.
This was from my most recent DIY Rustic Style project! It was the top half of an old rustic door turned into a great display for photos.
This was so fun to do! I tapped into my inner Martha Stewart and made these burlap curtains. It was crazy easy....I just sewed a pocket at the top for the curtain rod and used twine to add a little character to lift the curtain.
This is a bunch of random stuff from secondhand stores, thrift stores, and auctions. It makes this corner of the room look extra shabby chic.
I just love these green nightstands! I got two of them from an auction for a whole DOLLAR. I painted them a sea green and then beat them with a hammer....that's right. The old radio came from a garage sale for $10, the hubby is hoping to work his magic on it and bring it back to life. I believe in him
Add photos and clothespins to a lampshade to instantly create some character!
Ugh, I HATE sliding closet doors...and ours definitely had to go. I put them in our garage and then sewed these adorable curtains to make it more feminine and functional.
I picked up this chandelier from the Goodwill for $8. I already loved the glass vases over the light bulbs but the rest of it was brass...YUCK. Nothing a little white spray paint can't take care of! I'll need to paint the ring left on the ceiling by the old light fixture, but talk about a super inexpensive way to beautify a room! I'm crazy about chandeliers.

Ashley, I love your site, just found it looking for rustic things. I have been searching for a blog like yours for a while.

Hi Ashley, I love all the shabby chic touches you have added to your home. What is so special about shabby chic is that you can do whatever you like and it's okay, things do not have to match and they can be old or new or whatever. Lovely job. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year. I am late in commenting because I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris
