Rocker with Burlap

This month I've found myself really busy with the typical things December brings....Christmas shopping, work parties, holiday bazaars, crafting, family visits...and some things I didn't expect, such as getting the wisdom teeth yanked out and my other job (managing a coffee shop) being extra busy this time of year!

So I feel extra accomplished for finishing up this adorable rocker with burlap. Here is the transformation...

Before

Cushion is off and rocker has been sanded, ran over with steel wool, and wiped clean. Painting begins.

After two coats of paint I started to distress the rocker with 150 fine sandpaper.

After distressing the rocker I used a wood stain in Dark Walnut all over.
Time for the cushion. I picked up some burlap on sale, just $1.98! I used the old fabric as a guide to cut my piece of burlap, with a little extra just to be safe. The orange guy on the right is the cushion.

Turns out poor Whiskey hates staple guns! I had just gotten started when she ran in between me and the cushion and refused to leave. She was shaking all over. I did the job as quickly as possible.

The after...

(For those of you in the Boise area, you can find this burlap rocker for sale in my Rustic Store)

Now I'm off to get some Christmas shopping done! Happy Tuesday!

When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the alien, the fatherless and the widow, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.—Deuteronomy 24:19 (NIV)
