As I took a gander through our little house the other day, I noticed something. A few things actually. Now I know it's not the stuff in your home that makes it a home, but I do think this stuff can contribute to feelings of warmth, belonging, comfort, and love. Here is what gives me the warm fuzzies in my home...
Mason Jars
Specifically with candles. They can serve all kinds of purposes (even a coffee bar!), but I can't resist the soft glow from candles in a mason jar, especially when they are hung in an old metal basket like this!
Fresh Flowers
Because they make me happy. I found the shabby chic chess board at a garage sale!
Something Old
I love finding old treasures at thrift stores or garage sales (the three items below were thrift-ed). I'm a sucker for anything with a history.
Burlap
Burlap is country. I love pairing it with black and white photos, but I've also used it for curtains and seat cushions. Very rustic!

Crates
You can use them for all sort of things! I created a mini-library out of crates I collected from thrift stores, auctions, garage sales, and craigslist.

Puppies
Okay they don't really count. But they make me feel warm and fuzzy. So they do count. Kinda.

ReplyDeleteAre all of these photos from your house? The mason jar light is very cool and I loooove the crates as shelves!! I love finding the awesome rustic vintage finds at garage sales, flea markets, etc. They are the best because they are unique. I found some aqua mason jars that I love, also some cool old potato crates, and lots of other stuff to decorate with. My style is pretty similar to what you just showed. I love neutrals, taupes, beiges, creams. Anything BURLAP!! :)
